Twilight vs Vampire Diaries

Lately I started watching the Twilight Saga in a wave of curiousness but it was not as good as I expected it to be. Weak and long-winded. Excitement level: 5/10. On the other hand I've been watching the first 2 seasons of The Vampire Diaries. The story line is more or less the same but it contains more action, thrilling moments and the urge to know what's going to happen next. I really am looking forward to watch season 3. Excitement level: 8/10.
Anyhow, I still believe in the saying: The book is always better.
